Oncotype DX test
On Thursday 5 December, Channel 9’s A Current Affair ran a story about Oncotype DX, a gene expression profiling test suitable for some women with breast cancer.
BCNA member Julie Barnes shared her experience of undergoing the Oncotype DX test, which delivered life-changing news for her and her family that chemotherapy was unlikely to provide her with any additional benefit. This information helped Julie in her decision not to have chemotherapy treatment.
BCNA CEO Maxine Morand also featured in the story. BCNA has written to the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) supporting an application for a Medicare rebate for gene expression profiling.
