Hi @Milly21. I had oncotype testing, EndoPredict.
I had no node involvement and am HER2-. I'm highly ER+, but only a little PR+. The latter moved me into a grey area. My ki67 (which my breast surgeon said today was a poor man's oncotype test) number was at the top of the moderate scale, also putting me into a grey area.
My dreadful family history with this disease also suggested that the oncotype test would worthwhile. I discussed it with my oncologist, and she said given my circumstances, and if I could afford it, she thought I should do it. She said she would do it in my position.
To put it in a nutshell, if some random cells had escaped and were looking for a home somewhere else in my body, would chemotherapy have a curative effect? The answer came back a very clear yes (it's expressed as a number with a clear cut off line). There was no grey area on that.
Swear words were spoken, deep breaths were taken, and chemotherapy (four doses of TC) was commenced. Currently slogging my way through Round 3.
EndoPredict costs $2980. I was incredibly fortunate that my parents very generously paid it for me.
I have no regrets for following this line of treatment. It's hard, but I don't want to look back and wonder if I could have done more. Gotta hit this sucker with everything in the arsenal. Happy to answer any more questions if you have them. Let us know how you go. Good luck.
