On with the radio
Well, I started the radiotherapy a little over two weeks ago, so another three and a half weeks to go until it's finished.
I've been a little concerned about some pain I've been experiencing in my hands and legs. I've been reading a few blogs and trying to get a handle on what's going on.
The stiffness in my hands - especially my thumbs - is sometimes unbelievable. I'm feeling 80 on some days - double my age (don't want to insinuate here that all old ladies get arthritis!!).
My knees and hips are also really achy. I'm beginning to waddle on some days when the pain is really bad. I've read of a few ladies getting really sore feet, but my feet are fine (at the moment).
The joint pain started just before or just after the radiotherapy started (to be honest, I can't remember). I mentioned it to the oncology registrar but she reckoned it had nothing to do with the chemo but I can't put it down to anything else. I've been told to start the tamoxifen, but that was only last week, and this has been going for a while, so it can't be because of that.
Anyways, my hair has finally started to come back. I lost just about everthing. My arm hair was the only stuff that didn't fall out. But strangely enough (or not, I'm not sure), I managed to retain a tiny little bit of hair on both my head and my downstairs area (about 9 bits down there).
It's so exciting to see it all coming back. I've decided to go feral for a few months and just let everything grow back. My legs are the hairiest they've been for years!!!! :-D
Mind you, the downstairs area is just that little bit slower, because although everything else is growing back, those last few 9 hairs just look at me every morning going: "We're lonely". Oh well. I'll just sit back and wait and think of the money I'm saving on not having to get the bikini line waxed!!
