OK so I still have hair - what the!!!

Hi Ladies,

After speaking with my BC Nurse and Oncology nurses they keep telling me "everyone is different".

BUT when I started my rounds of chemo I took the bull by the horns and got my daughter to give me a number 1 and after round three of AC I still have a number 1 with a haircut in between to tidy it up.

AND IT IS STILL GROWING!!

so my question is, just how different am I.

Is there anyone out there that did a similar thing to me only to find out perhaps it wasn't necessary.

I have one more session of AC to go, then 12 weekly sessions of taxol.

Love to hear what you have to say.

  • I work with a lady who also had breast cancer.  She never lost all  her hair.  It did get very thin, but she always had hair.  If yours was getting thinner, maybe your number one will be better.

    The body does strange things.

By the way my friend is about 7 years since diagnosis and fighting fit.

  • Thanks Cheryle,  Only wish I had gone with a No3 I think that might have suited me a little better than this. Gotta laugh but underneath I am wondering if all is working as it is meant to be.

The mind plays funny tricks eh.

I am glad your hair is on its way back and I wish you health and happiness.

  • I'm sorry can't help myself, Jealous! I had a no. 3 and had the tiniest bit of fluff left. My Breast Care Nurse told me when I did chemo that she had only heard of one person keeping their hair. But on the bright side I now have full coverage of hair even if it is extremely short. It's hard to say what will happen with Taxol, I started noticing a little bit of hair growth around week 11 of Taxol. Best of luck with the rest of your treatment. Cheryle :)
