Oh my legs

Hi girls , I'm on my second month of femara and does anyone have any hints for chronic pins and needles in the legs, it feels like hundreds of tiny pin pricks, especially worse in the evenings, just to let you gals know my blood disorder which was recently diagnosed is actualy a benign blood cancer, so just something else to deal with. My onco said it's the good one but, figure that out. I'm having a month of treatment at the moment as it had just become all a bit much, the tiredness was overwhelming and my iron had dropped to a dangerous level. So nice to have some time of hospital visits. Love to all adean. Xxx

  • I am sorry to hear that this is still happening for you.  When I first started on Arimidex I thought my legs would break.  I tried everything I thought possible - even Lyrica (I wouldn't recommend this for anyone short term).  What helped for me was movement.  Sounds funny.  Little bit by little bit I built up and the pain is now somewhat unnoticeable.  It must be that our bodies adjust over time.  It is now nearly 4 years that I have been on it.  I went off it during chemo and when I recommenced it, the pain was unbearable.  I am still quite stiff on getting out of bed in the morning however I really think I am okay.  Keep perservering - I will offer hope and encouragement to you.  If you can find a "soft" exercise group I am sure that may help.  Do you have access to meditation classes.  I did a Mindfulness class for 8 weeks and the movement meditation was remarkable.  Little steps for you Adean. From little things big things grow. XLeonie

  • That's a bummer. Hopefuly the femara side effects will ease over time for you or maybe your doctor can suggest something that will counteract the pins and needles. Apparently the armomatse inhibitors are a little better than tamoxifen at protecting against BC recurrance so you take comfort in that at least. Look after yourself Adean. Really hope you feel better soon.  Take care, Janet.

  • I was taken of the tamoxifen as my blood disorder one of the (leukemia groups )causes stroke and of course tamoxifen causes clots hence the change.actualy I got a clot post surgery and that's how they found out I had the problem. Adean
