not what i thought i would be doing next week...

well, haven't i had a busy couple of days :(

I have been experiencing intense headache and migraine for just over 3 weeks now and when they began we tried all the 'usual suspects' to eliminate the problem, but they obviously didn't work..so, on Tuesday an early morning e-mail to our oncology crew asking their opinion which was.."sit tight, u need a scan, i will ring u back with a time"...oh ok says me..

15 mins later.." get down to the base hospital in warrnambool, the oncology registrar will be waiting for you and u are to have a CT scan on ur brain"  ooohhh lucky me!!!

CT results showed some cerebral lesions...bugger :(  so Wed morn MRI and many chats with oncology staff.. later a plan was established to head down to melbourne early monday morning and commence 4 weeks (prob) of whole brain radiotherapy...needs to be effective to attack cancer b4 it starts doing damage to the brain tissue (none yet..YAY)  so thats about it..we just go there, do that and steve will float back and forth between melb and home, bring the kids to me on the weekends..we have arranged an apartment close by for family and friends to stay in and visit me if they wish while steve is at home...Head pain is under control but they are keeping me in hospital to monitor all my cognitive signs and keep the meds up...

will keep u all updated as we know more..just keep all ur fingers and toes crossed, pray, wish upon a star..whatever u think will help we will accept with open arms!!!

keep smiling all..we are ..love ur support everyday   xxxxx

  • Hi Sam

Just logged in and saw your post.  Bugger!!! Still on a positive note, a friend of mine had whole brain radiation 12 months ago and she is now doing great.

Sending love to you and your family.

  • What a bummer of a week indeed.  :-( Sounds like a battle plan in place and you are ready to fight.  Thinking of you and your family and sending lots of positive energy your way.

  • Hi again Sam ....you're having a rough trot at the moment aren't you but I'm sure you will come through with flying colours ( more than likley blue and white - Roos - colours !!!).  It sounds as if your medical team  have all the bases covered so you just relax and let them get on with it ..... I know, easier said than done !!!!

One of the very few drawbacks with our country is the distance between friends .... this network draws us together but distance keeps us apart.

Sending love and positive thoughts to you and yours ....

    Luv .. Shir xx
