Not long enough

Day 19 - after round three

Well that went way too fast! Spent the weekend away at Sussex Inlet on the the South Coast. We've been going to the South Coast for years now and Sussex holds special memories. So peaceful and laid back..

I don't know if I'm relaxed or not! I know I'm tired, that's for sure!
Had a 3 hour nap when we got home...I guess it cleared the cobwebs out of my head as I'm not angry anymore....

You know how sometimes you leave things behind after a trip? Well Sussex Inlet now has my eyelashes! Yep! They are 98% goooooone! A few are determined to hang on! It's creating problems with my eyes. They are dry, itchy but gooey all at the same time despite putting drops in regularly. My eyebrows are hanging in there...but they are very sparse......I wonder how long it takes for eyelashes to grow back? You look really strange without them!

The cording in my arm is also back :/ I will have to jump up and down about the physio too...Hopefully I get in soon.

I've got a big week this week...blood test in the morning and I start my new medication regime in preparation for the new part of chemo. Then I'll go of to work...lots to catch up on there!

I have to take steroids the day before, on the day and the day after chemo this time....and I have to self inject something called Nuelasia the day after chemo. this drug helps to boost my white cell count and helps reduce the risk of infection. I think I'll be able to manage it O.o

Tuesday is D day! Even though I have had the pre chemo education and read all the literature, I am nervous about this new drug Docetaxel, but I guess once I get the first dose over with that may subside......hopefully it all goes smoothly!

I think I will sleep well tonight....

Hope you all had a good weekend and here's to a great week!

  • What is it about the South Coast??? That's where I left my eyebrows 6 weeks ago!!!!! Since then I've also lost all my eyelashes. I look like a turtle. LOL.

I also had docetaxal, with the dexamethasone, as well as the neulasta. The dexamethasone (steroids) made me feel like superwoman for 3 days!!!!! I felt like I could do anything when I took those steroids. Just be aware that they can make you stay awake at night so my nurse said take them in the morning and lunch time. I did all my neulasta injections. It's really easy and because the needle is so thin I didn't feel a thing. You may get bone pain a week after you take the neulasta when it really kicks in to make your super new white blood cells. It is completely manageable but for some women pain killers don't work but anti inflammatories do. I learnt that the hard way. If you get bone pain just ring your chemo nurse and they will set you with the right meds.

    Good luck with it all.

  • I bought this great eyebrow pencil by NATO called a precision brow marker...longwearing natural look. Fabulous to fill in the missing eyebrow hair...just use light featherstrokes. It is a sort of texta. It doesn't rub off once dry so that means you can wake up with eyebrows if you want. Washes off with soap or makeup remover. My sister who has very few eyebrows naturally is now using it. I got the fair...but there is a dark and you coukd possibly use both if needing more blending. I'm  a makeup novice really...rarely use it...but gave foubd this quick and unfussy. Kath x

  • Glad you got some time away. Bummer about the eyelashes tho! I didn't lose all my hair on docetaxel, and none of my eyebrows or lashes. Here's hoping its a breeze for you this round. XXX
