AliMarie, for my first cycle my oncologist gave me some extra dexamethesone labelled 'rescue pack' to take only if needed and only after calling to get the go ahead. I tried maxalon and ondansatron for nausea, which didn't help. As I couldn't eat or drink for the nausea, I needed the extra dex to get through. My oncologist then gave me extra for every cycle for days 3-7. It was a real lifesaver. Also, my gp was great about ensuring I had scripts for anti-nausea meds & pain relief.
