Not a biggy

Hi All

Hope you are travelling well. I just have a quick question for those who have finished treatment. I finished 7 months ago and have come down with an ear infection. It's the first time I have been sick and have gone down like a bag of spuds. The extreme exhaustion has kicked back in and all I want to do is sleep. I've been to the doctors and have been given ear drops and antibiotics but I just feel really yuk. I'm just curious if anyone slse has experienced this that you get something minor but feel like you are back to how you felt whilst having treatment? Is this just a throw back from treatment? I keep getting told that it will take a good 18 months or 2 years before I feel more like my old self. Maybe I'm expecting too much. Your insight would be appreciated. Thanks. Karen

  • Must be a bit of ear troubles going around atm. Just this morning on my face book a lady who was in the bed across from me in hospital last year said she has an awful ear today and she didn't have bc, she had her gall bladder out. Take care of yourself and just rest up. Hopefully you will be back on deck in no time.

  • Hi Karen I'm always tired and my feet burn. I went to the oncologist and she said it can take up to 2 years to start to feel better. As I have said before bc keeps giving. Take care hope you feel better soon xx

  • Thanks Deanne. I hope you didn't mozz yourself into getting ill ??. Yes I definitely feel like I just have to stop.

  • Hi Karen - I'm not sure if it is an awareness of the body and reactions but that is the one thing I struggle with the most, the fatigue. Like you I am told it will take 18 months to 2 years before I see a noticeable difference.

    Take care

    Christine xx

  • Hi Karen

I finished active treatment just over 2 years ago (Nov 2013). Your question got me thinking. While I have been very fortunate to not have so much as a cold yet (oh my goodness, just watch me come down with something now!), I definitely still have days where I feel fatigued.

I am definitely more conscious of my energy level and notice that things like stress (and I guess illness is stressful) just affect me more obviously than before. I am trying to get to a good balanced position but life does have a way of upsetting this. I think going through all that treatment has made me more aware of the connection between energy and my health. I think it is important to listen to your body and rest when you need to rather than soldiering on. These days I just HAVE to stop when I feel tired or it progresses to exhaustion scarily quickly.

Hope the drops and antibiotics do their job and you are soon feeling better again. Rest up. Deanne xo
