Hi Narelle
my father, 3 aunts and their children and grandchildren and my self all had breast cancer. Mine was free as I qualified for it. I tested negative for the BRCA genes but the geneticist said that's doesn't mean I haven't got it or that it wasn't picked up. The test isn't conclusion. My cousins however tested positive and all members had Breast cancer, through 3 generations. In other cases my aunt didn't have cancer but her daughter did and her granddaughter too. In total there are 12 members in our family who've had breast cancer - myself twice. My cousin had her breasts removed prophylacticly aged 27 and died of breast cancer aged 40. there is no guarantee with the testing so if you are really keen to have it go ahead. I would have thought you'd meet the requirements for free testing. I'm in Brisbane so maybe the states are different. Good luck with it all xx
