So I've come to the stage where I'm thinking about getting my nipples tattooed. I live in Cairns but don't have many options, so I thought I'd ask for recommendations from you ladies in Brisbane who have had the tattoos done. Who did them and how much was it? Thank you Rachel

Hi Rachel, I had my nipple reconstructed with Dr Eddie Cheng ,plastic surgeon at the Wesley. Then after that settled and healed he referred me to Dr Dingley at The Cosmetic Medicine Centre. 0738700111,Toowong, Brisbane. I can't remember the price ( chemo brain!) but if you contact them they should be able to advise you. I had the procedure 2 yrs ago and it has faded slightly but I'm very happy with the natural colour and size. I would recommend to any one getting tattoos to be careful of local anaesthetic needles not to penetrate silicone implants!

Good to hear from you. I am a patient of Eddie Chen's too, but have only just had my surgery. Long way down the track for me but I was thinking of only tatooing and not nipple recon so that I don't have to wear a bra. Do you have to wear a bra because of the nipple thing? Interested in your comments. Were you happy with Eddie's work?

Hi Sonzy, I was very happy with Eddie's recon of nipples , I sometimes don't wear a bra and the nipples are not noticeable through a t shirt . I had the tattoos done later on after the nipples had settled down and flattened a bit . My nipples look real only thing missing is the sensation and feeling ! Eddie is a excellent plastic surgeon , I even went back to him in Feb '14 and had my droopy eyelids fixed , again I was very happy with his work. Regards kim ( no longer Nipp_less! )

I wanted to ask you if you were happy with Dr Cheng and the work he did? Did he do a TRAM flap on you? It's a huge op, 10-12 hours and I've heard the first few days afterwards are horrible. Thank, Rachel. I'm relieved to know that your implants feel ok. I'll really looking forward to that stage. The expanders feel so tight. Let me know how you go with the tattoos if/when you do them. I'm in Brisbane so may go to the same place.

Hi Sonya,

I had my exchange in May last year (wow I cant believe its already been a year!!) Recovery after was a breeze compared to the mastectomy. To tell you the truth I dont really think about the implants anymore, at first they felt uncomfortable and foreign. Yes a little more movement would be nice, but at least I know when I'm older my boobs arent gong to be flat pancakes! lol

I'm still looking into the tattoos, there's one in Brisabane, Dr Mary Dingley at The Cosmetic Medical Centre. Ive got to call her this week and get some info about the preocedure. I rang the Mater and spoke with a nurse from the Cancer Centre and thats who they recomend.

Hi Rachel

I was reading your posts. You've been through a lot. Just wondering how you are now after your exchange surgery etc. Do the implants feel ok? How did you go with the nipple tattoos? I am still in expander stage so I'm trying to get some idea of what it is like at your stage. Hope all is going well for you now.

Hi Sonya, I originally had a pair of 38 D breasts, but surgeon wanted a good clearance from tumours and the skin sparing surgery was predicted to be 34B at the consultation with Eddie before Mastectomy . I'm happy with the smaller size, but I have some hard work to get the size 40 hips down a size! But then again after what I've been through - stuff it! Kim
