Night Sweats?

I have just had my final chemo on 29th Dec and for a few days before that and ever since I have been suffering with night sweats.

Is this common?  Has anyone else had this happen?

I have only just (22/12) turned 43 and am not menopausal yet!  I did skip one period while going thru chemo but that's all.

Any advice would be appreciated....

Thanks,

Louise

  • Ha Ha Ha - I can just imagine your husband's face Samantha as you strip off in front of him!!

This chemo certainly affects us all in similar ways, doesn't it?!  I often wonder if there are any long term affects.....oh well, I guess I'll worry about those if and when they occur.

Take care and thanks for the laugh,

  • Hi Louise,

Since the hot humid weather has hit Sydney I have been sweating +++ but mostly at night.I wake up in a lather and hot flushing.I have had 8yrs of menopause hot flushes but this sweating is something new.I thought it was Tamoxifen so stopped it for a week or so and it made no difference.I now think it' could be the chemo affecting the ovaries. For sure it's a menopause symptom. Many of my"meno"friends have complained of night sweats. I shudder to think of what our electricity bill will be after  this summer! I have the aircon going for a few hours and then a fan on all night.

When I started up the Tamoxifen again I had headaches for a week.In hindsight I should have eased onto it by taking half a tab for a few days. That's what I did back in August and I had no problems.Just a tip for you for when you start it .Also,I found Genox brand to be the most tolerable and so did my friend.

Hope you are feeling like yourself again(apart from the sweats).        Tonya

  • hi louise...i suffered sweats both day and night, but mostly night from about 1/2 way thru chemo and continued for a while after the end of it....my periods weren't affected as i have a mireena inserted so don't ovualte/cycle at all anyway..my hubby would laugh that 1 minute i could be sitting on the couch quite happy then 10 seconds later he could look over to see me disrobing at a rapid rate!!!!...i am happy to say that they do subside..but also thankful that i was mostly affected in the privacy of my home..that helped!!!..congrats on finishing chemo..any follow up treatment in progress???..hope all goes well :)

  • A happy belated 40th Tanya!  Yes please - we could definitely do with some rain.  It made me laugh the other day when we had our wettest January day on record...wait for it....yes we got 4.5mm of rain!!!!!  WOW!  Crazy isn't it.  If only we could share some of yours we would all be ok.  I hope you haven't lost anything in the floods - it looks awful.

    Take care,
