next step

Hi all...just wanted to let u all know i am feeling pretty good after my 10 zaps of whole brain radiotherapy...fairly minor burning to the scalp, hair still in tact - so far anyway, might still disappear yet! some pain but all manageble so far.

While we have beeen focussing on the brain mets we need to look at whats happening neck down, so thats next. Scans are set for friday (CT & Bone) & Monday (Gated heart) and doc says we have 3 treatment options to chose from-WOW!!!

All chemo options (continual-unknown end date)  which carry all the chemo side efffects, but its all about management of those. Don't really know how i will be as these radiotherapy effects are continuing for the next few weeks too..so there will be a bit of an overlap of issues to contend with

Steve is able to stay home with me again to run the 'home show'..kids seem to think 'oh, ok--no biggy' and life goes on, albeit modified again

My theory is as long as i keep getting a ladder whenever i come up against a wall then thats all i can hope for :)

    Hi, my name is Linda and I was on the same table as you at Raelene Boyle's 60th recently.  Did not really get chance to talk, it was hard to speak with all the speeches and music.  Anyway I thought I was doing pretty good, orginally diagnosed in 2004, had lumpectomy, chemo, radio and all good till March 2010 when diagnosed with secondary in lymph nodes.  Had Abraxane and Herceptin (had to stop Herceptin, affecting heart).  All seemed good till couple weeks ago when diagnosed with brain tumour.  Sent me into a spin.  Surgery, possible but tumour in deep and there are risks, as with any surgery.  About to start 6 radio treatment to brain.  Positive this will help, not sure if they will still want to take it out.  Bit on edge at moment, inspiration or what you know would help. 

    PS,  I was sitting on your right (next to spare chair), in the bright pink long dress, (I did dance a bit that night, had a blast!)

    PS. After reading your story in beacon, you are inspiring!!!

    hey luv...the bone scan showed up clear again - YAY...so nothing extra needed in the mix..seeing doc on wed arvo for final decision on which treatment option (out of the 3 available to us) we will go with...then i think we would be starting the following week..feeling ok..functioning pretty well and having a sleep in the arvo most days..so all managable. Kids and Steve are all coping really well and looking after me with incredible ability :)

    Hey Sam! Glad you're feeling pretty good -- will be sending you more good thoughts for the scans on Friday.  And yes, much as it pains me to say it, go North!   (I didn't even whinge when they beat my team on the weekend,either! :)
