NEXT STEP

Hi Ladies,

I had a lumpectomy & 4 lymph nodes removed & have an appointment with the oncologist this week, feeling extremely anxious & overwhelmed, would be grateful for any suggestions to help me on this journey.

Thanks so much,

Robyn

  • Hi Megan,

I am going to "Look Good Feel Better" on Monday, I find it all very daunting, but  will scan the books which is a good idea, thanks for the hint :)

    cheers

  • Hi Robyn,

I can relate to your wariness in reading the kit: I too felt a bit daunted in the early days. But it is invaluable. What I did in the end was scan the topics and content, so that I knew where to find something as and when I needed it. Limiting how much I had to absorb a bit at a time helped me stay alert, but not over-anticipate what might lie ahead and that has worked well for me.

I'm not sure where you are, but if a 'Look Good, Feel Better' workshop is available in your area I can highly recommend it - it's lots of fun and you meet some really lovely people who are all walking a similar path.

    cheers

    Megan

  • Hi Karen,

I have not been able to bring myself to read the books in the kit but will do so today. I am taking my husband & daughter in law with for support. Thank you so much for your feed back.

    Take care,

    Robyn xx

  • Hi Rowdy,

Thank you so much for your feedback, I am taking my husband & daughter in law with me, & will take a notebook with me as well. It is just so hard not knowing what to expect but I know I will get through this...

    Take care

  • Hi Robyn,

I agree with Rowdy, take someone with you. Also qestions in the ebc gide book from the my journey kit are a good starter.  It is info overload finding ot about chemo.  All side effects are mentioned, bt not everyone experiences them.

    All the best,

    Karen xx

  • Hi Robyn try and take someone with you as another set of ears is always good. My husband and daughter came with me and our daughter asked things that I wouldn't have thought of, A note pad is always a good idea to start a list of questions now as you think of them. The whole process is very overwhelming but you will get there.

One last thing no question is a dumb one this is your time to ask, take care x
