NExt phase

Over a month since my last post!   Chemo done & dusted & side effects gradually disapating.   Taste buds starting to return, enjoyed my first glass of bubbly a week ago!   No sign of hair regrowth yet, but was on TAC so it may take a few weeks longer I guess.   Fluid retention a real pain in the you know where, really bad & no clothes fitted & beached whale an understatement.    Bit better now that the GP has put me on a low dose diuretic tablet.  Radiation therapy started this week, so far so good.  The staff are super, Macquarie Hospital only a couple of years old so everything very up to date and comfy - except the table for radiation, its darn hard!!   Five weeks of therapy & then hopefully will start to get our life back & not have to plan everything around hospital/Drs appointments.    As they say "light at the end of the tunnel".    Starting to look at planning a holiday in UK & Europe next year - yeah cannot wait!    Keep smiling everyone - it helps!

  • Thanks for the tip Julie.    I just visited the website and have ordered some of the ointment - QueenBee Repair.

Will let you know how it goes.    TTFN again!    Marilyn

  • Hi Marilyn.

One of the other lovely pink ladies has recommended for radiation a cream from a website, that she used and was over the moon with.

I have taken down the website, as I will be purchasing before I start radiation in September.

Hope all goes wel, and keep us posted.

  • Great news Marilyn

I heard from another pink chick that pineapple, cucumber, celery and green apple (juiced or whole) helps with the fluid retention.

I am planning my husbands surprise 50th for between chemo and radiation.

Then a trip overseas is on the cards.  Let  us know where you decide to go.

    Take care.

  • Thanks for the message - much appreciated.   Into week 2 of radiology, so far ok!    Warned by my Prof that I will probably get some redness (like sunburn) from next week, so am piling on the Sorbolene like crazy.      Still battling the fluid retention but the tablets have helped somewhat.    Signs that my hair may be waking up - can feel pricky stubble, another "be patient" process!     In addition to oseas trip planning for next year, trip to Adelaide and Melbourne later this year to catch up with friends just needs fine tuning - can't wait.    TTFN and take care, Marilyn

  • Hi Maza

Good to hear that your chemo is now over and radiation on the go.

The end of the tunnel is approaching for you, and that is terrific.

Plan your trip, like its not tomorrow. Do everything you always wanted to do.You really deserve it.

keep in touch and let us know how you go with radiation.

  • Thanks for your reply to my posting Mich, will keep fingers crossed that the chemo side effects get a move on and leave you real soon.    Radiology is certainly a lot easier, though down the track I know there will be some issues with lack of energy (again!) and "sunburn" and possibly aggravate the fluid retention - something I hope I can avoid, but I suspect not.     Its certainly been a roller coaster ride since first diagnosed but like all roller coasters it does stop and you get off and take control again!      Can't wait!    TTFN Maza
