Newly Diagnosed
Hi my name is Nat and have had a big day today finding out I have an Invasive Duactal Triple Negative 8cm mass. Wow finally blogged it and got it out there!! I am so scared about starting this jour...
Nat, I agree with Dees suggestions about a hair cut and head coverings. My hair dresser suggested i have my head shaved as soon as my hair began to fall out, which mine did immediately after my 1st chemo treatment.my hair/scalp became very tender and having it shaved off solved the pain i was experiencing (not everyone has pain...i had thick strong hair ,perhaps thats why??) I did not feel comfortable in a wig (my hospital had a free wig library ) i just utilised my collection of colourful scarves. Check Google for ways to wrap head scarves and soon you will be a wizz:) a sleep cap will be useful for winter nights.my friend knitted me 2 from baby yarn...beautiful or you can purchase bamboo chemo caps from Cancer council shops & online shop...very comfortable and can be worn with scarf too, i had a black cap and wore it under scarf in cooler months, once temp warmed up i used only cotton scarves as they breathed :) my hair began to grow back half way through my RT and now 6 months along, its 2 cm and im proud to show off my white chemo curls ...but always wear a hat when outside :) Im sure your boys will enjoy wrapping their heads too...pirates, ninjas etc :) they will be your best medicine Nat ???
Gentle hugs ?
