Newly Diagnosed

Hi all,

I just wanted to speak with anyone that has a similar diagnosis to me..I was diagonosed with Stage two Grade three triple negative Breast cancer in September of this year. I'm having my 3rd Chemo treatment tomorrow Doxorubican,Cyclophosphamide with one more of that after. Then 12 weeks of Paclitaxel. All up 16 chemo treatments. Then followed by 6 weeks of radiation. I feel a little helpless at the moment because on top of this now I have just had genetic testing done for the BRAC1 and BRAC2 Gene. All this and I'm only 38

Some days I'm thankful that mine was caught relatively early then other days I think of it coming back, as I haven't been given great odds. x

    Its nice to hear from someone who has been through this treatment. I find the AC doses really bad. I have one more to go. In what way are the weekly Paclitaxel treatments easier??

    Hi Vanessa,

    I was 42 when diagnosed 12/10/2010 with grade 3 invasive DC which was triple negative. My treatment was similar to yours surgery (wide local excision) 4 x AC then 12 x paclitaxel then 6 weeks radio therapy. I had the genetic testing which came back inconclusive.

    I agree the triple negative pathology is scarey but I take hope in the fact that there are many women who go on to live long healthy lives. I forget the exact statistics but its either after 3 or 5 years I think our odds are better than others.

    Feel free to ask any questions. Good Luck with the rest of your treatment. The paclitaxel I found much easier than the AC and the radio is a breeze compared to the chemo as long as you keep your sorbolene slathered on haha..
