Hi ladies,
My story starts over a year ago, over the Xmas holiday period 2012-13 I discovered a lump in my right breast, In February 2013 I had a mammogram and ultrasound with the report indicated nothing of any concern. Later in the year I had more symptoms so another ultrasound was done, thankfully this time a biopsy was done also. Just as well, as one week later I was informed that I had DCIS.
My first wide local excision and lymph axillary dissection operation took place 9th December and a second op for re-excision 18th December. Didn't get results from second op until 8th January, where I expected to be scheduled for radiation. This was not the case as I was informed next step is to have a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction - that the tumor sizes removed were 45mm, 30mm & 14mm - grade 3. Margins still not clear. At least the lymph were clear. Still disappointed that it wasn't picked up on mammogram/ultrasound earlier. Based on my research, including reasons for my delayed diagnosis I have elected to have also have a prophylactic mastectomy & reconstruction. This has been scheduled for 10th February.
In the meantime I'm continuing to work and I'm based in Brisbane.
Until next time,
Linda
