New TNBC
Hello ladies...I am now 6 weeks post double mastectomy and 14 days since my first TC chemo ...hair falling outso the big shave today to start the New Year!
I am 49 and have had lumpy breast with cyst...
Hi Yoga Nut,
The lack of willingness to test for BRCA makes me so mad!!!! It wasn't until my Triple Negative diagnosis came back that I was tested, even though I have family history running down my fathers side. Had I have known I was BRCA1 positive 5 years ago, or even 2 years ago, I'm pretty sure I would have taken preventative measures rather than put myself, my husband & especially my kids (14 & 6 at the start of this) through this whole cancer & chemo mess.
30th Jan I'm having a hysterectomy, I was only going to have the oophorectomy, but since a tiny bit of tube tissue is left behind, I'm having the whole lot removed....it's not worth the risk to me. I'll have a few weeks to recover, then on the 25th Feb I'm booked in for my bilateral mastectomy with Lat Dorsi reconstruction. Then in July we're going to Disneyland!
As for the brows & lashes...I did lose mine, but not straight away. I did 3 months on AC, where i lost my hair on day 14. That was OK though, as I'd already shaved it off. Fot the rest of AC I shaved it to the skin as I hated the feel of my head on the pillow. When i switched to the Paclitaxel (Taxol) I was told to stop shaving my head as it would grow back.....AND IT DID!!!! But as a payback, I lost my brows & lashes. I just used heavier eyeliners & you couldn't tell. I did leave the house 1 day without my brows & almost had a heart attack! I'm almost 5 weeks out of chemo now & they are growing back :)
Wishing all the very best, Sam xoxoxox
