New side effects from Paclitaxel
My stomach generates a lot of gas since I started Paclitaxel, however, my Oncologist says she has never heard of any of her patients having such a problem.
I have tingles on my finger tips which I know is a common side effect from lixal, however, I also feel numbness on my tongue, does this sound normal?

- Fionap2017MemberThis is why I like this online network- it’s nice to know you’re not the only one experiencing these side effects. I definately understand what you mean by the gas! You would think the oncologists would have heard of these things but maybe nobody has really wanted to mention it!
- KouklaMemberMy oncologist arranged me to do gastroscopy this morning and they could not find anything. I will try and see what is available over the counter that can help reduce my flatulence. Peppermint tea is also a good idea.
Thank you ladies for your advice and tips. - kayvieMemberPeppermint tea helped a bit but boy the flatulence was bad on both AC and taxol. And the smell!!! I used to clear the room....even the dogs would leave LOL!!!Neuropathy as others mentioned in both hands and feet but feet have resolved now. Good luck with it all x

- primekMemberMylanta double strength has simethicone in it which also helps. I was never able to purchase degas.
- MKitty68MemberI had the neuropathy in my finger tips, feet & mildly on my lips. Feet were the worst.
I had to mostly cut out bread or I was dreadfully bloated! I was just constipated through AC & Taxol.
I would fart a lot on chemo too & omg lol, luckily my man has no sense of smell - TennilleMemberTry taking DeGas and Buscopan if you have any pain
- onemargieMemberHi there @Kouklai I’ve just remembered there’s a medication called de gas. You can get it from the chemist check with them your gp or oncologist to see if it’s ok to take which I think it would be but best you check first. But do try and change your diet I know that helped too. Good luck and let us know how you go. Margie. X
- KouklaMemberOh Gee.... @AllyJay, it is so funny to read your comments, you have made me laugh and it is so good to be laughing while having to put up with the discomfort from side effects from chemo. I wish I could get rid of the gas through farting or burping but I am not as lucky as you are. :p
And Margie, I have had reflux for a long time before I was diagnosed breast cancer and I was originally on Naxium 20mg, my Oncologist expected it would make my reflex worse once I have started chemo so she doubled my doseage. Unfortunately this change did not seem to help reduce my bloatness. I think I might change a bit of my diet and see how I go.
Thank you for sharing your experiences ladies! - AllyJayMemberOh I had gas problems too as well as Montezuma's Revenge!! Because of the weird peripheral neuropathy I developed, fingers, lower legs, lips, tip of tongue and around my nether regions, sometimes, when I thought I just had a massive fart coming, I ended up with more than I bargained for...sheeshh...I learned to fart on the loo after that. I'd have my bum clenched as I stumbled off to the loo to let rip rather than taking a chance. Oh the joys....
