Hello Ladies, I am a 47 yo mother of two grown sons, diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer on the 10th May. Since then I've had a wide excision and an axillary clearance after finding a 5mm tumour in 1 out of 33 lymph nodes. I start 24 weeks of chemo on 25 June, then 6 weeks of radiotherapy. Before then I have to have a CT & bone scan, and a port inserted. A month ago I wouldn't have know what half of these terms even meant! To say I am scared is an understatement. I made the mistake of googling some stuff and after scaring myself half to death found this site & group. I had a hysterectomy in 2001 for cervical cancer, but needed no chemo or radium, so though I've had to face the big 'C' once before this is a whole new kettle of fish.

I had bilateral mastectomies on the 23rd of may, not sure what other treatment I will be having yet, I am sure there will be other ladies that can help answer your questions and alleviate some of your stress, just wanted to let you know we are here send your a big hug xx Cheers Narelle

Like you, I was diagnosed grade 3 Triple Negative in April, and can understand how you must be feeling. It is all so overwhelming at first. Triple negatives are rarer but there are enough of us here to give you support whenever you need it so just post if you need to talk - someone will always answer. Your ct scan and bone scans are quick and painless, and the port is the best thing to have for easy access with weekly chemo. I had bilateral mastectomies and have just finished week 4 of 18 chemos with no side effects really - everyone reacts differently, so don't be too scared. Like you, radiotherapy will come later, but it is easier to travel this road one step at a time. It will help when you are in a routine. Until then just take one day at a time, and come to the site often - the love and understanding you will find here are amazing. Stay strong - sending you a big hug - Michelle xx

Hi Monkeygirl I am also new to this I am 49 also with to sons, I have had the same as you and now have to go back for a mastectomy, bone scan & ct. I think to myself will this ever end. Not been told what treatments yet. It is all so scary and hard to get your head around, but reading this blog I think if all these brave ladies can do so can I and I am sure you will too. Roby

Here is so fantastic, to have all of us, give advice, listen, understand when you cry, scream, laugh, and to read everyones journey. Just take one day at a time chicky babes. Just remember to have someone come with you all the time when you have appointments , as you will forget or not digest some of the things that are being said. Not handling the bone scan &ct to well having a bit of trouble staying positive, but trying to keep my head up for the boys who have taken it all so well so far. Will be so relieved when all the tests are done and I know where I am heading. Roby

I'm a 4 year survivor. Okay, I'm a bit down today but normally I'm reasonably upbeat. Go ahead, Google the stats - they're horrifying BUT... They are the WORST case scenario. You don't sound like you fall into that category. Well done on the clear scans, and keep putting one foot in front of the other. I'm living proof you can be a physical and emotional wreck and STILL refuse to be a statistic! X Lu

Thanks! You know I felt a bit guilty after I made that post, feeling bad for anyone out there who may have had some bad news that day. But then i thought that it makes me feel better to hear of people having a win. I just wish we could all be winners all of the time. Jenny.xo

Great that your scans where clear, such a load off your mind, now you can have a nice long weekend, relax as much as you can and prepare for battle xx

Went and got the results of my CT & bone scan today, and at the moment all is clear! What a relief, I feel like I've had a huge win and can now tackle anything! All of a sudden my pain doesnt seem so bad and I feel a bit less tired. It's amazing what some positive news can do for you. Bring on the chemo and let's kick some cancer butt.

Now I just hope and pray that there's good news coming for all the other brave women out there waiting on their dreaded 'results'.

Hey Robyn,

Sounds like you are having a lot of surgery, you poor thing. I had one node positive also, however they removed all of mine, so the report was 'one positive from 33'. Of course it would be better if we had no positive nodes, but i guess if you are going to have node involvement then only one is as good as it gets. I am trying to shortcut the system, and am going to my gp today, she can access my scan results and give them to me. I didnt sleep much last night and dont think I could handle waiting another almost week to find out. Better the devil you know I reckon. What is the extra surgery you need? I hope it's not too major. I've still got my drain in, I hate it with a passion, gave me so much pain last night. When it comes out I want to have a bonfire and burn it!

Good luck with your scans, if they are like what I had they are painless, couple of needles, drink a bit of stuff, and a lot of waiting around.

Hi Jenny Glad that is over with for you that is a long wait, I have my scans tomorrow and am due doe more surgery on Wednesday. They tell me that I will know the results of my scans before then. I asked today' what node envolement I have and was told the I had 1 positive from 4 not sure if this is good or not. Thinking of you. Robyn
