Neutropenia

Good to hear all that. Hope this is a much better cycle for you. I have chemo tomorrow. This cycle has been so different to the last one. I haven't even missed a day of work. Mind you, I only work 3 days a week

At medical review Tuesday they decided to change one of drugs to reduce side effects , I had chemo Wednesday so hopefully side effects will be better!

i had the neutrophil boost Thursday, and so far so good, dosed to eyeballs on various drugs, but apart from feeling tired all good so far! 

Well it took 4 days for my neutrophils to come up and within one day they doubled.so thankfully I was allowed home.

I also had a nutritionist come and talk to me about the right foods to eat and what to avoid which was interesting. Glad that I got that information.

you never know what to expect each treatment.

i suppose I am lucky in that I haven't had mouth ulcers, minimal nausea and didn't get the aches and pains with the neulasta injection.

So pleased you are out of hospital.  I've learnt since reading these posts that there are a diversity of treatment options and each persons experience of them is unique.

When you said you had ticked off just about the whole list of possible side effects I was thinking that even the treatments for the side effects have more side effects!  

I have such admiration for the strong women who are making their way through this- it is a bonus that you can do it with such grace and humour.

My aches and pains were worst the two days after the neulasta injection easing on day 3.  I managed on paracetamol and shed a few tears.  I had such awful constipation with the endone post surgery and couldn't face that again.

On admission my neutrophil were 0.012, yesterday they hit 1.2, so it's taken 5 days.

i was allowed to come home today, yahooooooo! Lovely to be home! I asked about injection but they said no. I'm in South East Melbourne, I was in Casey hospital, they don't have chemo unit there, they did talk about transferring me to where my chemo unit is, but it never came about, I wanted to stay at Casey tho as it meant my family could visit easily.

i have radiotherapy planning app tommorrow, medical oncology next Tuesday before next chemo on Wednesday,  I'll  be asking about boosts there! I don't think I have anything that would prevent me from having it?

Doll, how did you manage the aches and pains and how long did they last? I had terrible pains after first chemo to the point if needing endone, I'm dread to think I'll get them with next dose and worse if I have boost done :/

Also, just wanted to say that I receive the white cells injection the day after each chemo and I go to a public hospital. So definitely ask.

my neutrafils are 0.25. Hoping that I can go home tomorrow.

same thing s happening to me right now. What would we do with our iPads, lol! I was sharing a ward yesterday would you believe! Didn't get much sleep. So now I am in isolation, I'm hoping I will tonight. Well, part from all the obs they do on you all night.

never mind, I know I am in the right hands and being well looked after.

Hi Flutter by, all of this can be so frustrating.  this "journey" brings something new every day.  hang in there.  i gave myself my first neulasta injection (to boost my white cells) on the weekend post Cycle 2 of AC chemo.  They warned me about possible aches and pains associated with the neulasta but didn't expect it to be so uncomfortable.  Aching and sore all over.  Where i'm treated the neulasta is available after the 1st cycle of chemo if your white cells drop low enough during that first cycle.
