Don't be scared, just have someone with you the first time. I found taking three deep breaths (inhale/exhale) before I started calmed me down; then exhaling as I did the jab somehow made it easier. The very first time I did it, I asked a friend (a nurse-in-training) to come and 'supervise' me. I read the instructions, then read them again, aloud, as I did each step. I was nervous as hell but felt kinda proud of doing it myself -- and it's way better than trekking back to hospital every time. Good luck!
