Hi Deb,
I am recovering well, and came home from hospital this morning, which is day 4 and one of my drains was removed, the other still draining. It isn't too painful any more, really only feels like stiff muscles on my chest now. A level 1 lymph node clearance refers to the first of 3 stages of lymph nodes, with level 1 being closest to the breast. I did have a sentinel node biopsy first, and it was clear, but only 1 node was found and removed.(you said you had 3 removed). Because my tumour was much larger than they were expecting, and also grade 3 the surgeon wanted to make sure that the cancer hadn't jumped the sentinel node. Apparently this can happen with aggressive tumours, and as he only had one node to view he wanted to be sure. My level 1 clearance removed 9 more nodes, so 10 in all.
Like you, I'm also a sugar addict and love coffee. I have heard that sugar might be a link, but I will struggle to give it up. I'm doing my best to walk for half an hour a day, and my dog is forever grateful. Trouble is, no one knows for sure what causes breast cancer, so it is hard to avoid the culprit.
Love Chris xx
