My swollen wrist

Can I ask for any help with my wrists please 🥴 both wrists are now pretty much unable to use ,  I can’t go to work and can hardly drive ,they can hardly hold onto or open or lift anything…  I can’t put a bra on 🥴one is very swollen and extremely sore to touch the skin .. has anyone else had such a reaction to AI ???
  • Great to hear it isn't a clot, @LBUSH.    Your Onc should be able to help you with your questions and definitely be aware of any changes  .... I've tried all the AIs (except Tamoxifen) .....

All the best with your Onc appt xx
  • Keep a watch on that @LBUSH. If you notice any redness, at all, you really need to get someone to look at it ASAP. Cellulitis is not uncommon if your lymph system has been compromised (not suggesting that is the problem in your case) and it can bubble away for a while before it becomes a real issue.
Take care, this is really hard work. Mxx
  • @arpie , it’s making everyday life very tricky😟 I have been on the aromasin for Two months, previous to those I was on anastrozole , I had three months on anastrozole and had to come off them due to limb issues, not the same as anastrozole…… I guess if they take me of these I will then have to try femera.. My one wrist that is swollen was so bad that my GP sent me for a scan for blood clot , luckily it’s wasn’t that … I am so frustrated🙄 I guess I will try the femera.. I hadn’t considered carpal tunnel @Locksley … I will have a look into that when I see my oncologist on Wednesday… let’s hope I can tolerate one of them , is there any other alternative besides tamoxifen, are there any clinic trials For hormone treatment?.
Many thanks for your time and help ….
  • Could it be carpel tunnel syndrome which I have heard Is a  side effect of AI?
  • So sorry to hear this @LBUSH - you need to contact your Oncologist asap & get reassessed.  You may need to swap AIs.

Which AI are you on &  how long have you been on it?   Is there anything else that may have caused the swelling/pain?

I've had hand and wrist/thumb pain - at it's worst, a course of prednisone helped me - but you can't be on it long term of there are bad side effects - like bone weakening.  I found that my pain is almost cyclical - it will be shocking for a week or so & then ok for a couple of months ......

    Take care xx
