My first TC chemo

Hi Monica...the whole food thing was a big one for me during my treatment, my husband read that sardines helped with your immune system so I got "delightful" sardine creations most lunchtimes...now I can't even stand the sight of a sardine tin:) let alone smell one.

I did especially like the blueberry smoothies, made with frozen berries, peaches, banana, vanilla soy milk and silken tofu or yogurt or juice...bit of flax seed and whatever else you like...they became my if all else fails especially during the summer days.

I will like to began by saying a big thank you for all the lovely mesages that I receive in the past couple of days . Because I was so tired I could not answer earlier . I am now back to the baby stage as the only food I can have is mashed because my mouth is very dry , white and no taste at all , found the biotene mouth wash and tooth paste helped alot. Now I stoped the maxalon , and found that my energy levels are back and no more headache and can hardly wait for the day when I can enjoy a cup of Coffee couse at the moment that a no go zone.Now for the next couple of days I'll have to be extra carefull so I dont catch anything as my white cell will go down, so I will be quarantined in the house. Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well with your treatment. Cheers Monica

It is so good to hear that all is going so positively for you. It sounds very much like the mini pharmacy for nausea/ vomiting works for you (as it did for me). Must admit I'm also like you - almost bounding with energy while on the dex! hence day 4 for me has been a very slow one with lots of sleeping (in between the toilet stops!!).

Hope all continues to go well and you are taking up those offers of support.

Thank you everyone for the kind and encouraging replies. Is day one post chemo still feeling good no nausea or vomiting thank god. Had a meeting with rad onc today he is very lovely gave same info but he said he not going into great detail as I am far away from treatment I'll meet him again in octomber when is getting close to treatment time. Today was my last day with dexamethason so I had plenty energy even went and visit the ward where I work . Everyone was so nice and happy to see me and they could not belive that I had chemo yesterday and stiil look good. I plan to slow down tomorrow as My hubby has to go to work  so I am by myself and had to promise that I will not do anything silly. Feeling tingly allover my scalp and my mouth started to feel a bit dry but keeping my fliud up and keeps my up all night going to the toilet my water bill will go to thru the roof with all this double floushing. But that a small price to pay on the road to recovery. That's it from me for now good night everyone and I 'll keep you posted on my progress, hope averyone is doing well. Cheers Monica

Sleep lots without guilt, take all the pills you need to feel better , get the offers of food organised , accept all offers of assistance and recover well, cheers Cheryl

Just saw your post Monica, you will be tired and it is a good idea to rest when you feel like it...be kind to yourself and if someone offers to cook tea for you say a big yes please! 

Well done. sleep while you can. Busy Busy Busy for a while now. It is amazing how strong cancer patients really are hey. ! Good luck and i hope you are still feeling ok
