My First Post
Hello. I am trying to work out how to use this site for online support. User guide would not download. Find it very confusing so please bear with me. Anyway ....... I am 60yr old professional. Very fit, strong and healthy person all my life. Very rarely get cold or flu. Never been in hospital except to have son 23 yrs ago. Strong family history. Been checked yearly for 35 yrs. Always negative. Had checkup in Jan 2014. Grade 3 cancer (scary) lump discovered. Probably only been there for about 3-4 mths. Lump removed + two sentinel nodes (one had cancer). Had axillary clearance 10 lymph nodes removed (one had cancer). Possibility of microscopic amounts of cancer in other lymph nodes. In 3 wks start chemotherapy. 1 mth break. Then 5 wks radiation. Herceptin for one year finishing March 2015. Just devastated. Feel my life is over. My worst nightmare has only just begun. So scared about chemo and losing hair. I am private person so totally devastated. Career on hold for 12 mths. Decided to remain hermit and stay at home. Seeing oncologist for first time in one week. Reading about huge range of side effects. Expecting to go through hell. Sick of people telling me it will be alright and to stay positive. They just don't get what I am going through. Does anyone else relate to this???? Thanks for listening.
