Hi Hazel, I was misinformed by a friend of a friend that I wouldn't be able to swim with a port so I didn't want one but the oncologist said the port is the safest way of going and yes, I can swim because it's under my skin and will be protected. I think I will like that rather than having to put up with being poked by people with sharp needles. Some nurses are really good with needles, some like the nurse at the blood lab this afternoon shouldn't take blood and talk (and turn the needle in my arm!). The only side effect that will bother me is if my brain takes a holiday. Hopefully it won't. :)
