@lynn1 ring the oncology unit and tell them how sick you are. There is a great deal that can be done and the first is worst. They can do a range of things to help so please contact the unit or your oncologist who should have a pager

You poor thing. Definitely talk to the Onc and BC nurse.  I was terribly sick for the first 2 chemo's and finally it was all brought under control. They will have options for you to make things tolerable.  Agree with Annski though if you are having big problems don't hesitate to call the ambulance.   I got to the stage I had to take it half an hour by half an hour on the first week or so after chemo.  Hang in there and let us know how you get on. xo

Have you asked if there is some way to modify the infusion. Perhaps a slower rate. I find walking helps avoid side effects, drinking water, all the tablets they can give you to help with side effects. Maybe meditation to help the emotional side effects? There is a pharmacy at our chemo place who know the best ways to help. I would make sure your doctors know what is happening.

What a horrible situation to be in. I wonder if they are giving you dose-dense? Those are powerful chemos, I think 3rd generation. Maybe they could try a modified regime? So much depends on things like how old you are and all the other indicators they take into account. I see you are in Darwin - probably limited options for second opinions there but it might be worth a try. At the very least get onto your oncologist and the hospital and your cancer nurse and see if there aren't medications they can give you to make it more tolerable. And if you feel your body just can't take it, call an ambulance and get admitted to Emergency. Let us know how you go.

You poor darling. This is so awful to hear. Does your medical oncologist know how bad things are for you? After my second chemo, I was ready to chuck it all in, then my oncologist recommended a psychologist. She was experienced in dealing with cancer, and with her support I was able to continue. I hope things improve for you very soon.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. When was your chemo? I always found the first week after chemo to be the worst? 
Do you have a McGrath nurse? Please contact your oncologist & nurse to let them know what’s happening if they don’t already know? Perhaps they can change the chemo drugs or dosage to make it tolerable?
