MRI Biopsy??

Hi All -

Hope everyone is evading the dreaded winter lurgies floating about these days!

I recently had my 3 month assessment post treatment to be informed that the MRI detected a lesion in my other breast suspicious of DCIS.

As a consequence, my surgeon had arranged for me to undergo a targetted ultrasound & biopsy, which was unable to locate the lesion.

Now I am pending an MRI biopsy to ascertain whether the lesion is malignant or benign.  Has anyone had an MRI Biopsy?  Or can anyone explain what's involved in this procedure?

    Thanks to the three of you that replied to my post and for your wisdom!

    I am very anxious and apprehensive about the procedure, moreover, about the potential outcome!  I am reasonably sure this lesion was there whilst I went through the original treatment! Just a little annoying!

    I will keep you all posted of my experiences going through this process in hope it may assist another BCNA member into the future.

    Hi Jo - long time no speak!

    Thank you for your consideration and reply . . . I am astonished by the original MRI finding . . emotional rollercoaster made specially for me I'm sure. 

    The MRI biopsy was scheduled for last Monday however required to be rebooked (thanks to me!) so I am still waiting for this procedure.  I will let you know of my experiences (& that of the rest of the BCNA community) once undertaken.

    It is interesting that you waited 12 months for your first follow up assessment post treatment.  I would have thought as worst 6 months??!!  I have the BRCA 2 genetic dysfunction so perhaps this underpins the purpose?? And my initial tumour did not originate as a consequence from the hormones??!!

    I have fingers and legs crossed that it's benign! Let's hope!

    Hi Penni

    I am guessing it is a biopsy with MRI to detect where it is??? So they can find the little bugger. Good Luck xx

    Hi Penni...Im sorry to hear that . I wish I could be more help. I am interested that you have gone for a 3 month checkup they have asked me to go back in 12 months and I felt it seemed a long time. Good luck I hope its benign. Let us know how you go xox
