More Surgery
Hi Ladies. I had my lumpectomy and full axillary clearance on 9th December. I spend two days in hospital and came home with a drain, which I still have today. Can't say I'm enjoying the drain...
Sorry the news wasn't what you hoped it to be, but be thankful that you have a cautious surgeon who wants to do the best for you. Whatever chemo combination they decide is right for you there will be someone on here who has had the same and be able to help you. Do you know if it was hormone positive and/or HER2 positive? That will determine your treatment chemos. Herceptin is added for HER2+ breast cancer.
Hope you get the drain out tomorrow, mine fell out by itself the day I was due to get it out, but I still built up swelling (seroma) and had to have it manually drained weekly for a month. No big deal, everything was still numb from the operation. With Christmas holidays coming ask your doctor tomorrow what do you do if you develop swelling, ask for a contact phone number of someone who can drain it, perhaps your breast care nurse?
With love
