Today as I was about to pick up my daughter from her first day of high school, my oncologist calls..."I need to speak to you Celeste..do you have anyone with you right now? Can you sit down please......
Hi Celeste
Oh my - you must be shell shocked. There are always new combinations Celeste - do not give up hope - you just have to find the right one. I am devastated that you feel hope has been ripped away from you. My oncologist has said to me from the start that there are many, many options and I too have been considered to have progressed on Taxotere. I have been stable on Vinorelbine and Herceptin (and Everolimus/placebo) for 6 months with scans due this week. Head on over to Her2 support to remind yourself that this is a hurdle not a roadblock. You are doing everything that you can and will take this news and move on with the next plan. There are many combos you haven't tried yet and you have made big lifestyle changes which can only assist.
I am confused as to the lung progression too - how could they not see two new nodules when the others had significantly regressed? Is it possible to get a second opinion or do you feel that they have done this by discussing your case? Is a PET scan an option for you? (I ask because I had 'warm spots' show up on my bone scan but ruled out of being cancer when they saw a negative PET.
Celeste - I am very saddened by your news and can only imagine your shock. You have another plan, believe it will work. I wish I could hug you too.
