Yesterday I had great news from my Oncologist at my 6 month checkup - all bloods were fine and I am promoted to a 12 month checkup!  It was such a relief - like all of us, I am always nervous for days beforehand.  To celebrate, my husband has booked an amazing holiday for a joint Christmas present.

My Oncologist has recently started a website with free cutting edge lifestyle information for cancer patients and their families.  A lot of it is already on our wonderful BCNA site, but there are some interesting findings as well.  As he is deeply into international research it is well worth having a look.  (He does not know I am posting this but feel sure he will not mind.)

He runs the major breast cancer centre - HOCA - on the Gold Coast.

    Thanks - it was a year ago that I was starting rads in August, with the hysterectomy to go, and it does seem longer.  You are right about knowing your body - thought I had bone pain recently, but it turned out I had torn a muscle on the new treadmill!  Vast relief and an excuse to get off for awhile!

    My husband has booked a trip to Africa, to do 3 safari places in Kenya and then sail home from Capetown on the Queen Mary.  He has been such a rock this past 18 months and this trip was a lovely surprise.

    So glad for you.  It seems like such a long time ago that you were in the midst of it all.  Take really good care of yourself - know your body backwards and if something is not quite right - off you go to get it checked out.  Let us know where your holiday destination is????  I will definately check out the site.  XLeonie

    I have my last AC on Friday, they're dropping todose to try to stop the neuropathy. Then 3 weeks after that I start Paclitaxol. Finish date is 6th Dec....YAY! January will bring me my hysterectomy & double masteceomy. I'll be ready to fly in June :)

    Your holiday sounds great! Ours was kids pick. At 6 & 14, they've had to deal with a lot ;)

    Hi Michelle my gut pain settled with nexium, but now battling a late overload of radiation causing boob to swell andpain shooting through it, joy oh joy treatment is rest fresh air and sunshine.then back in 3months for a check, I asked what if it hasn't gone and they said , don't ask that. Well ha ha idiots I would like an answer. Take care adean xx

    You are so right - it is the best feeling I have had for 18 months.  I hope it is soon the same for you, and that they got to the bottom of your abdominal pain.
