More diagnostic tests
Tuesday 26 Feb - blood taken at Arkaba medical centre
Wednesday 27 Feb
St Andrews Hospital
CT scan -
Given a litre of water to drink a cup every 10 mins over half an hour
- Nickers only, blue gown
Drip feeder put in left arm
Lying on back, moving through circular machine that was less than a metre thick
Scan of head first
Injection of contrast dye
- warm tingly sensation in fingers and toes and between legs like wetting yourself but not!
Scan of chest then abdomen - arms above head
Then arms down and head scanned
Then I was told to dress and we'd collect 'hubby' (haha - he liked that) on way thru to neurology waiting room
- had another injection through same drip - blue dye
Told to come back in 4 hrs and to eat and drink normally - drink more than normal though
So we went off and had lunch by the beach watching the rain falling outside. Was really lovely. I took the time then to write a few notes (above).
Back for whole body bone scan. This took about 30 mins and I fell asleep!
More waiting - 45 mins - till all images were ready and I could take them with me (as I had been instructed to do by surgeon).
Amazingly this all cost about $1500 but was covered by Medicare! Yay! There's always a positive! Now more waiting till I see the surgeon again on Friday to go through the results.
