Meds before Chemo

I was given all in the chemo room on AC. Once on taxol because a had a minor reaction I had to have 2 hours before dosing. Kath x

Hi.  Same as the girls above.  Everything given on the day.  The first one is nerve wracking but probably not as bad as you think it's going to be at the start.  I bailed on the Neulasta after the first one landed me in ED with severe aches and pains to the point where I couldn't walk.  I just said plain out "hell no" after that.  Nurses are awesome and if they inject slow you wont get an itchy butt!  All the best. Hi there @Spiv1803 I had triple neg last year and was given oral meds just before they hooked me up. I had the Dex too but can't remember having an itchy arse!! I was pretty bent on all the phenergsn they gave me and slept through some of it. then the rest were all IV. Same for the taxol too from memory but they did I give me oral meds to take for 2 or three days after chemo. Plus I took ondansetron coloxyl and senna and then nexium as it gave me bad reflux so I was lucky didn't have the horrible vomiting some ladies have had on this forum just felt bllaah for a few days. Oh yeah and don't forget the shitty neulasta injections I had to give myself 24 hours post chemo.  Ow they stung like a bitch but only for a few seconds. That stuff made my bones ache so took endone and warm baths for that but luckily it was only a couple days. Hope this helps. PM me anytime if you would like to chat more. Margie ❤️

Definitely check before having any other drugs.  My big white pill I had before AC (I got the script from onc just for that one dose) was very relaxing anyway.  Please try not to be nervous, its not so bad, nurses are great.  And take some ice cubes if you don't like those yucky fruit flavoured icy poles for the AC

You will need to check with the nurses or oncologist what you can take as some tranquillisers can react adversely with the anti nausea medications.

10 years ago it wasn't a 'thing' when I had AC but I had Dex before TC earlier this year. Taxol and  Taxotere  must have different side effects. I cruisered through AC but was a mess on TC. Go figure.
Ask questions. The Oncology staff are brilliant and are pretty good at gentle reminders if the oncologists let something slip.

I didn't have anything the night before, just the day off. I had the Dex pushed via syringe but only had the tingling a couple of times when they pushed it too fast. I also had lorazepam on th day of my AC treatments to take the edge off. The nurses organised it with approval from my oncologist.

I had a tablet on the day, and one for 2 days after on A/C (three weekly). I begged off them when I was on Taxol, as I was never sick and the more frequent use caused constipation!  Didn't have the worms though!!
