Mastectomy done

Hello everybody , I had my left breast mastectomy done 2 days ago and everything went very well . Sentinel node were negative , great news ! I feel no pain at all, I was very surprised about that. The nurse will remove my drains in 15 mins and than I can go home . I looked at my scarred flat chest and I am ok with that , it's the beginning of a new chapter . I will get my pathology report on Wednesday , and then will go from there . Hope you are feeling well . Federica x

    That is wonderful news. No pain, and clear lymph nodes. The cancer is gone and you will be surprised at how quickly you recover. I have never felt bad about my scarred flat chest and think there is a lot of power in how you think about things. We can choose to be proud of ourselves and happy for what we have gained (a healthy cancer free body) rather than dwelling on what we have lost. Rest up and take care. Deanne xxx

    Dear Frederica,

    Thanks for posting this. I'm due to have mine next week, and have been stressing about it a bit. I'm glad to hear yours went so well. Actually, i'm more concerned how i'll go emotionally. The waiting to have it done has been the worst, now i just want it over and done with and on to the next step. Good luck with your recovery etc.

    I was wondering how you were going.Isn't it amazing that there s no pain? I was the same.When you get home,just remember to do your exercises,even if it is a bit tight,because you will get back to normal a lot more quickly Federica.Well done though,and great news that the sentinel node biopsy was clear:)Keep in touch and let us know how you are going.Dont overdo it at home for the first few days!!!     Well done Frederica! Your are on your way to a complete recovery. As the Breast Cancer nurse said to me before I left the hospital. The cancer is gone now! Just keep that in the front of your mind and focus on the healing process. Good on you!

    You are mavellous.  If your physically can handle it, it really works well and wont be that easy to move your emotionally sick.

    That's great, I believe you will recover very well, but please do rest a lot and keep your good eating habbit.  I did follow the Exercise disk from BC Association, do it little by little.
