Mastectomy bras

I have just bought a Triumph Mumma-n bra.  I went to the booby trap warehouse.  Unfortunately it is a Maternity Bra but because it has extended hooks and eyes across the back it feels quite comfortable to wear and it doesn't dig in..  It is the first bra I have been able to find that is quite comfortable to wear.  I only had the operation November 2010.  I hope this will be of some help too you.  Take Care Karen x

I'm not sure what size my prosthesis is but it weighs nearly a kilogram. I'm sure my natural boob isn't that heavy!

I just looked on mine and I'm not sure which brand it is.There are two advertised.

Mine is a large and my prosthesis is a size 10 and I am usually a double D.

I think they sell xl and xxl. I do find it very supportive even with no underwire and very comfortable.They are a bit hard to get on initally as they tend to roll up a bit.

I am an E size...will they hold a very large prosthesis?

I have seen them on TV and been very tempted but wanted to wait until someone else tried them :)

 

I finally fell for the ads on tele for the genie bras.They offered a money back guarantee so I thought nothing to lose. They are great!Very comfortable and hold my prosthesis in place.

When I had radiation I wore the Amoena bras that open at the front and found them the most comfortable ones, I did buy a target one which I wore a bit but it's too big now as bought it a size too big so it wouldn't rub. Like Maria I actually wore no bra most of the time and wore an oversized singlet around the house. My skin was fine the whole way through and think it could be the lack of clothes rubbing my skin that helped.

Gosh finding a comfortable bra is a struggle - I  found it hard to get a bra that felt pretty normal - I had a mastectomy in April followed by chemo and then radiation which I completed about a month ago !!

I am about a B size and I found everything having really broad straps etc difficult.

Then I discovered these bra top things at Fashion fair - dont know where you are or if you have this shop - I have seen a similiar thing at SES.

It is almost like a cotton stretchy small crop top but has removable cups so I can pop the soft prosthesis in the bra top itself where you are supposed to take the cups out when washing and it all sits very comfotrably and as the straps are thinner and it covers well at the front you can wear it under absolutely anything even string tops etc.

It honestly changed my options on what to wear has made it so easy and even better they only cost about $7. There is no wire in it and just sits really softly on the skin.

I am still a bit swollen under my arm on the mastectomy side and find these bras the best.

I have the berlei bra from the 'my care kit. Many of the ladies I have met at my breast cancer meditation group highly recommend the soft bras from target - particularly the breast cancer ones.

Many times i dont bother wearing a bra at all, but then I can get away with it. Small breasts (what's left) and scarves.
