I am interested in connecting with anyone who has had similar diagnosis and chemotherapy and who is of similar circumstances as myself. I need to know that I really will come out the other end and survive for hopefully 20 years, as my oncologist says I have a lot of living to do but I am not convinced he is telling me all.

  • Hi Marlene,

If you click on "You have 3 messages", it will take you to your Inbox.  Put your mouse over the Subject, and when it appears underlined, click on the Subject.  This will take you to your latest message, and you can scroll up and down to refresh your memory of what you were talking about!

Anything you need to know, just ask.  Someone will be here.  Michelle x

  • Help how do I read my messages, I have been clicking on 3 unread messages and takes me to a box listed with messages and someone has sent a message, but when I click on new or the reply has been sent it just takes me to the other persons home and I don't get message.  Help must be chemo brain.

  • Thank you Michelle, glad you have finished your treatment and are feeling well.  I still have a long way to go and I am hoping nothing unexpected turns up.  I find that my arm and underarm get very sore again after each dose of chemo, hoping this will settle.  Had 3rd high dose last Monday, last high dose will be 2nd Sept then 12 weekly lower doses, then 5 - 6 weeks of radiation all going well to finish in Feb 2014.  It does all hit like a steam train and what a roller coaster but hopefully we come out well and stronger in the end.  Thank you again for replying to my blog.   Cheers Marlene

  • Like you, I was Triple Negative, stage 2A, Grade 3, and had all my treatments during last year.  You are very lucky that your tumour was so small and caught very early.  (It often proves to be bigger when they have actually taken it out than it showed up initially on scans or USS.)

With TN we only have surgery, chemo & radiation as the new drugs don't work for our type.  I had all of them, finishing with a hysterectomy afterwards.  It was not the easiest year of my life!  but it was all do-able and I was able to stay strong mentally and focus on getting better as soon as possible.

I wish I could give you a 20 year reassurance!  All I can tell you is that I feel really well, exercise in the gym every day, eat lots of F&V, and drink pomegranate juice in a wine glass except if we are out to dinner. (This was difficult and I still cheat occasionally.)

There is a TN group on this site where you can read other women's stories and get lots of comfort and information.  Stay in touch.  All the best.
