Margins

Hi all, I had my first surgery on 10 April and the pathology result found one margin had BCIS less than 1.5mms from the edge of the lateral margin. SO I have just had a second surgery last Tuesday so my oncologist could take a new margin and see if the BCIS is present or not. I will find out in about two weeks so have everything crossed that this new margin comes back clear or at least with a decent margin she and I are happy with. The good news was there was cancer in only one out of ten lymph nodes :-) Also see the chemo oncologist this Monday so will then know when that regime of treatment starts. Things have moved very quickly since being diagnosed on 25 March. I am not the most patient person in the world so I was very happy to go for surgery and have the cancer taken out as soon as possible. I'm not sure how best to describe it but I'm looking forward to the next steps? It helps me feel like I am doing what I can to be fully healthy again and make sure the cancer stays away for good. Blessings to everyone and good wishes. Since last posting I have seen how many new people have joined this club so hope everyone is travelling along ok. xo
  • Hi Anne, sounds like you have been busy with surgery!  I will cross my fingers that you get clear margins, I was lucky enough to get them the first time around.  Once I got my treatment plan I felt a bit of relief as I knew the path I had to follow, so I hope the same for you too.  It can be a bit of a roller coaster but its all doable, I have just finished majority of mmy treatment but still have herceptin until november this year.  Good luck with your appointment.
