Mammogram
Hi All,
Well yesterday I had my mammogram !! It was exactly one year to the day that I was diagnosed ! So scanxity set in big time. I don't know if it was a little too soon after finishing active treatment or what, but the woman that did the scan said the left one was very mottled, could be due to the radio therapy. It did't help that she had to do that side twice as the first one she was not happy with. It was on a new machine that she was still learning so it was a bit trial and error. ( did not do much for my stress levels) Apparently the machine was brand new and the only one in Australia and she had only finished her training on it last week! I now have to wait until next Wednesday to see the surgeon/registrar to find out if I need an ultrasound. All the feelings I had this time last year are coming back( fear, uncertainty, etc)
Mt wonderful husband did his best to cheer me up yesterday after we came home from the hospital and I had a melt down. He took me to my favorite winery in the Clare Valley ( we only live 1 Hr away) and then for lunch. I was not too bad when we were out but now I am home again the dread is setting in again. I keep telling myself everything is fine, but there is still that little flashing light in the back of my mind.
On a brighter note I had my first real hair cut on Monday (Yeh) got a pixie cut. I have got used to having short hair now after having it long before chemo so may go with it for a while longer. My hairdresser said people pay good money to get theirs died my colour !!!

- Thanks ladies @onemargie I don't know if the gp will be able to get results as had it done at the hospital the surgeon arranged it for before the 6 month check up but will try. I am also a port supporter go the power !!
@Sister I am in Angle Vale so not near the fire thank goodness the thought of fire scares me. I am originally from the UK so don't get bush fires just alot of rain! !! - Hair looks fab! You may have mentioned it before but where are you in Adelaide? Hopefully, nowhere near the current fires.
- Hi there @smokie08 what’s going on there’s another bloody south Australian on here! ..... go the mighty power!! That hasn’t gone down too good so far as they are all bloody crows supporters so I’m hoping to have some allegiance with you and if not brain wash you into being a port supporter! I grew up down near there too. Where are you from I love the Clare valley.
But seriously love. The scanxiety is the pits isn’t it. But I can tell you I do work in a gp clinic and they certainly can call the radiologist for you and get those results sent through today for your gp to look at them so you don’t have to wait. The results will definitely be completed. So give them a call and ask them they can ask the go to run their eyes over it and give you a call. At least then you don’t have to wait. Im sure all is good too and you just got the girl with her L plates on and she was just being thorough.
And i love your hair. It really suits you! I did it look that great with it that short but you look amazing! I had hair past my nipples when I was diagnosed and now 18 months later it’s just about to touch the tip of my shoulders. I won’t grow. It too much longer but it has this annoying “Farah Fawcett flick” thing going on which gives me the shits as it’s not even curly just wavy lol so I put it up or straighten it and it’s a pain!
Let me know if you have any luck with your gp today they can definately do it. It might even be beck already. If you have a super efficient cool as hell nurse like me working there she could do it for you too!. Keep us posted. Until then daily visits to the winery are compulsary lol. Biggest hug. I think we'll all be a bit anxious with any of our mammograms/ultrasounds from here on but especially the first anniversary one .... a totally normal reaction, I think - but try NOT to build it up into something that it isn't! ;)
I am not looking forward to my first mammogram post op .... the bloody things hurt enough even BEFORE you have any op! This is why they don't have a similar machine for scanning mens' testicles!! LOL

- It's a rotten feeling and my heart goes out to you. Did you develop some strategies for anxiety and stress management earlier in your treatment? Maybe time to resurrect them.
Lunch at a winery is a mighty fine distraction in my book! Your husband is definitely a keeper ;)
I want to see your fabulous hair! Can we have a discreet photo? I'm on regrowth watch. It was four weeks ago yesterday that I had my last dose of chemo. Currently a few bristles only...

I have been quite tough on most fronts - handle this handle that - but thinking about the mammogram just brings me undone. They hurt!!!! waaahh boo hoo. Best wishes from jennyss in Western NSW
