Lymphodema Treatment

I am notsure if this will assist anyone, but there was a short story on our news report last night about studies being done at Macquarie University Cancer Unit re lymphodema and using lyposuction to assist. Not for everyone.  But it seems that there is a theory that the fat cells are transmitting a message for the production of more fat cells.  Therefore it is no all fluid. On the sample take from the lady (severe lymph sufferer for 4 years post BC treatment)  last night only 15% was fluid the remainder 85% was fat.

    I think this enzyme is secreting and turning on  fat cells all over my body!!

    It was such a short segment.  More reading is required.  I think they have found that in the right situation the fat cells secrete an enzyme that either activates more deposit of fat in the area or the growth of fat cells.  I think the next step is to block the enzyme.  But relief can be provided through the liposuction for some sufferers.  Obviously if you remove the enzyme secreting cells you remove part of the problem.  But more reading is required.

    Exercise is obviously a part of the prevention so I wouldnt stop it.

    Hi, me to saw the segment on tv.

    Does that mean it we keep exercising on our arms and get rid of fat, that it could help prevent fat deposits???? Not too sure if this is a medical fact.... but I will keep doing those exercises...... hoping it could help.

    I will also check out the website...

    Yep,I saw it too.It's very interesting because all this time it was thought to be just fluid.
