Lump near/in scar tissue

Hi I am new to this group.  Now 37, I was diag. at 29 with BC.  Am all clear since, originally underwent lumpectomy, node clearance, chemo, radio and herceptin treatment (PR+, ER+ and HER2+).  Just recently had mamo with concern of lump around scar tissue - anyone had this issue?  Getting told not to worry etc but been there before... Just trying to get some other stories of anyone who experienced similar?  Bio next week so trying not to worry until then, worry about my babies and dont want to voice my concerns to family when am sure will be fine. Deep breath!!

  • Thanks for the thoughts. I know I know it is just one of those things we all hate!! Oh the joys. Positive thoughts.
  • It's normal for us to worry about any lump or pain after a bc diagnosis. It could very well be scar tissue or calcification.I had a lumpectomy, full node clearance and radiation, didn't do chemo(2003) and then cancer came back in the same spot 7 years later(2010) so had to have a mastectomy and chemo.Apparently I was in the unlucky 8% that get it again in the same breast. It was early breast cancer again and it was nowhere else in my body. I am not telling you this to worry you but rather let you know that you can still be fine after a recurrence -especially when it's caught early again. Now the odds of 92% being clear are in your favour so keep breathing and keep busy.Because we've had cancer before,we always have to get prodded, scanned and  biopsied at the first whiff of a lump or a pain. Most of the time,it turns out to be nothing but unfortunately we have to cop the worry beforehand. Will be thinking of you and hoping it's just abit of scar tissue. Big hugs, Tonya xx
