Love the 3rd week!

Saw my Oncologist yesterday and got the 10 out of 10 from him.  I said to him when I walked in - "Well I feel great thank you Doctor, what say we not worry about the rest of the treatment!?"  He said "Well you have a choice, but I wouldnt recommend it!"  He loved it when I said "I just do what you say!"  I also said Ive been called pedanctic about my diet and sticking to all the rules, and a little over cautious, but hey, Im sailing through really, so I think its worth it.  I had no side effects - except for constipation for Chemo No 3 FEC. (nausea, and tiredness until day 12).  Thanks to no sugar, no thrush!  Mouths good, and no infections!  I went out for a little shopping after I had my heart scan at the hospital, with my wig on.  Blowing a gale here yesterday, not a good hair day!  I kept thinking every one could tell I was wearing a wig, and then Id think, well either that or they gawk at me with no hair!  I felt a bit less conspicous anyway and thats all that matters.  Will be interesting to wear it all day when I to back to work.  I hate to think of not being able to tint my hair for a long time too as I have dark hair naturally (level 5, brown) 1 is black, 10 is blonde in hair world, with lots of grey now, even in eye-brows. Yuck, not happy Jan!    So wigs will be my thing until I can colour my hair again.  Have been so well this time around each day Ive done a bit of house work, in prep for the house inspection next Monday and keeping up with the washing too.  Only using the transportable clothes rack for it any big stuff, I use the op arm to the operation.  Still being cautious with the Cording almost gone.  Wearing the compression arm support each day.  Scalp nearly cleared up totally.  Using the Pilates 20 DVD I was given each day for stretches, and back is good.  Go for half hour walks from about day 12, use an umbrella most days, even with sun screen on for shade.  Every day is different in Tas, no heat waves thats for sure.  Still no meat, no restaurants, no sugar, all natural diet and enjoying it.  Still lost 6 kilos and maintained my perfect BMI.  Lots of water.  8th Feb 2012

  • Hi there belmckenna

I am in week 3 of my first chemo and I have to agree - its great! Just trying to fit lots of things in before next treatment, including a weekend away. My hair is coming out, and my hairdresser is going to do a home visit in a couple of days to shave whats left off, but I am not too worried about that as its a short term thing.

    All the best
