Losing hair
Hi ladies I have a question regarding losing my hair. I started losing my hair on day 16 of my first chemo and
i have had it shaved really close but not all off. I have this awful feeling when touch my head it feels like pins sticking in my head and I wondered if I get my hubby to shave it all off maybe that feeling will go away. Has anyone else had this same feeling.
Thanks so much

- Mary60MemberI had the same issue with a painful scalp when my hair fell out. It does improve over time but I found that washing the scalp with Dermaveen Oatmeal Shampoo really helped.
- LMK74MemberThanks to the horrendous menopausal hot flushes I can't tolerate wearing one to bed and it's winter. My head continually sweats all night so I leave the fan running.
- melclarityMemberLisa If you research head wear for chemo youll see a night cap. Just like a cotton thin cap. I used to wear polar fleece beanies to bed as it was winter and your head gets so cold. Melinda
- viking1Member@Mrs_H Hi, I am intrigued as to what a sleeping cap is and where do you get one? I am a newbie ☺ and am having visions of nightcaps in the Victorian era or Amish communities! Thank you.
- LMWMemberHaha mine hasn't all gone yet :D :D
- Seamaiden57MemberHi LMW- yes your scalp itches and feels hot- Man !! I could scratch my head all day- my Onco said it's part of the hair loss- l had my head shaved - still gets itchy but not as bad- One thing l don't mind is downstairs- less hair in the shower plug!!

- Mrs_H1Member@LMW I had a similar experience when my hair started to fall out. Within a week it was gone. I sleep with a sleeping cap which limits the scalp contact.
- LMWMemberThank you so much girls. I really appreciate your advice. I've just had my second chemo on Monday so maybe it will settle down.
Thank you again - primekMemberI agree with Mel. It's the hair follicles hurting. Shaving it might cause risk of cuts etc. You'll find your scalp incredibly dry. I used a cetaphil skin wash for mine and it seemed to help. Takes a while for that itchy sore hair feeling to go. I used to just rub my head a lot....hurt but felt good weirdly at same time.
