Looking for info

Hi, I just recently had an Ultrasound of my L breast due to getting mastitis and the sonographer did an ultrasound of the R breast at the same time. The L breast came back clear but they found 3 lumps in the R. On initial assessment they state they appear like fibroadenomas but recommended FNA. I had this done last week and again the results have come back inconclusive suggesting most tissue appears to be fibroadenoma but there are atypical cells and further follow up is recommended. My GP is referring me to a specialist but the one he referred me to cant see me for 3wks and I can't find any info on the specialist. Call me needy, but I like to read and see what qualifications my specialists have so I know I am getting good advice. I live on the Sunshine Coast but am willing to go to Brisbane if the services provided are more appropriate. Does anyone have any experience with this? I understand I haven't been diagnosed with Breast Cancer at this stage and after all this things might come back clear. I'm just looking to get the best advice. Thanks in advance. :)

  • I was diognosed with stage 1 grade 1 DCIS. As I was diognoised very early I did not require any lymph nodes removed or chemo or rads. I opted for a bilateral skin saving mastectomy, Lisa is awsome at this procedure so I did not even require the added expense of a plastic surgeon as she is more than capable of this procedure, I am happy with the results. I have awsome new boobs (minus the nipples...... But I got star tattoos in place of them after I healed ;). All up I was off work for 4 & 1/2 months. If you need to ask questions ect, feel free to add me on fb. I live in Currimundi. Hope all goes well with you.
  • I'm not sure what I'll do yet, I'll see what the specialist says then go from there. If she suggests removing them, I'm pretty sure I will.
  • Good luck with it all, so glad you are having it followed up! Will you be having the lumps removed ?
  • Lisa is the best on the coast, the 3 week wait is worth it!!! Such a wonderful surgeon, she did my skin saving bilateral mastectomy in may 2011. She knows her shit :)

  • Thank you so much for the replies and well wishes it means a lot. Karen that is who I've been referred to, so hearing that makes me feel at ease, thank you so much. :)

  • Hi Keren, I live in Nambour and my specialist was Lisa Creighton at Caloundra Private. Sunshine surgery is the name of her clinic. She is absolutely amazing. Fairly young, lots of fun, empathic and patient with lots of questions lol. Anyone I spoke to about surgeons mentioned her first and no one could say enough about how great she was. Hope this helps. If you want anything more specific let me know. Happy to help. Good luck. xo
