Longer menstrual period during chemo?

Hi, I just had 2nd AC cycle n had my period. Usually it clears by day 4 but I m still having blood staining not heavy flow. Today will be day 7. Is it possible that it takes more days to clear up during chemo? Appreciate your input. Thanks.

  • @CarmelS n @Kabee..Thanks for the info. Good to know there are instances that people are getting longer period. I will monitor mine. Thanks ladies!
  • Hi @Siewli. I was the same.
Before being diagnosed I was always like clockwork with my period. Every 27-29 days and usually only for a few days. My 2nd AC I was super heavy and lasted a week as well. I also got it again 2 wks later which was a shock as I was told chemo could potentially stop my period.
  • Siewli. I had TAC chemo (gosh 11 years ago) & same thing happened to me 2nd cycle, very heavy period. But then......no more, instant menopause; but hot flushes were a killer. Layers you can take off ( & then put back on...) work well.

No personal experience as I was way past menopause when diagnosed but all sorts of variations in the menstrual cycle seem possible and, as with many other side effects, unpredictable, even from one cycle to
the next. Let your doctor know if it lingers for much longer, but it’s probably only a problem if you are bleeding heavily (which may result in dizziness and other side effects due to blood loss). Best wishes.
