I'm a registered nurse of 38 years and it's hard yakka!! I'm abit older than you(57) and I would find it quite daunting to nurse fulltime for 14 weeks, Is it possible to break it up into 3 lots with a rest inbetween? Or can you defer it for a little while?Surely they could help you under the circumstances cos it takes awhile to get your mojo back. I agree with you Sandy, you've come too far to chuck it in and it must be something you've wanted to do for some time. You will make a great nurse, partly because of your experience as a patient this year.
When I had my lumpectomy and radiation in 2003,I was told I had an 8% chance of cancer returning in the same breast - and it did. My surgeon tells me that I have a 5% chance of getting it in the other breast if I keep taking Tamoxifen -higher if I stop. She didn't give me secondary stats and I didn't think to ask.Maybe Im getting more relaxed about it???
Sorry to hear you are copping so much pain. You really shouldn't have to.I hear from my pink buddies that Femara causes alot of pain.I don't have that problem on Tamoxifen.Talk to your onc - maybe you can swap. I just don't believe we should have to put up with feeling like crap and my doctors usually help. I don't know how you work, must be so difficult.Take care.
