life goes on

well finally after 3 weeks my drain is out. Went camping with drain in and although it was exhausting. It was our regular holiday, and Andrew an the kids needed some normality. Found out that there is no cancer in the other nodes, so even though its good news, I feel like the pain, hypersensitivity, numness and potential lymphodoema isnt necassary.(sounds like self pity I know) But someone needs to invent a test that can check before they do an axillary clearence.

See oncologist next Friday.

  • My surgeon sent me for a Sentinal Node Biopsy the day before surgery, there is info on this in the resource booklets in ur BCNA Journey Kit. It is a procedure in which they can pinpoint which nodes the cancer is likely to drain to. I only had 4 nodes removed (2 cancer, 2 clear) and no further clearance required. My arm recovered very quickly and my range of motion and strength returned quickly too.

Good luck with ur next appt and upcoming treatment plan :)
