  • I've been on letrozole for 5 1/2 years and have found no difference with brands. The active ingredient is the same and the only difference between brands would be fillers, binders and possibly colourings. Unless you are allergic to say lactose which has been used as a filler or tartrazine, (E102), a yellow food colouring, there shouldn't be a problem. I take whichever brand my pharmacy has on the day, at the moment I have the Pharmacor Letrozole but have had quite a few over the years.

  • Agree with @Afraser everyone can react differently so you really just have to start with one and see what happens. I started Letrozole almost 3 months ago. Since starting i have gained a couple of kilos and I get pain in my hands at night. A few stretches in the morning to get my hands going and I am ok.

I see my oncologist later this month and will discuss these side effects but expect to stay on Letrozole and be monitored. I was on tamoxifen for 20 months until side effects got unmanageable and then switched to Letrozole. It's been an improvement from the tamoxifen for me. Just try and monitor and report any side effects to your oncologist. Good luck
  • Different people find different brands better, for some it’s a question of trying more than one. I have been on Femara for over nine years. It has side effects but manageable. I have had no joint pain or menopausal-type symptoms but that may be more my body reaction than the actual medication. I have had no difficulty in getting it from a range of chemists.
