Letrozole questions
Hello everyone ??
I will be on letrozole after my radiation finishes & would love others feedback,
unfortunately I googled ?? & came across so much negative stuff about this drug ??
I am hoping theses are the very vocal minority & most people cope very well,
The thought that running ( which I adore ) biking, swimming & yoga may be totally compromised is more than slightly physcing me out ,
is there any helpful tweaks to diet, lifestyle that has helped anyone else ?
Thank you thank you ??

I've been on it for over a year, I too had terrible pain and cramps in my legs for 2 months, I upped my intake of magnesium and this helped a lot, I've really had no issues I think you just have to listen to your body and stay away from dr google. Adean

I found I had the most side effects start about 1 month into taking Femara. It did effect my ability to do my normal activities because it caused a flare-up of my previously mild arthritis. But this gradually improved over the the next 2 months and now (at 4 month mark) I am back doing pretty much everything I was before.
I eat a very healthy diet, take fish oil, glucosamine and magnesium to help with the joint and muscle pain. I don't drink alcohol or caffeine (didn't before Femara either).
I am currently hiking a lot of hills (over 60 km a week) in training for a trek in Nepal in 10 weeks time. I do find yoga helpful and also found Pilates strengthening sessions have really helped to reduce any pain.
I am pretty sure I can live a happy, active lifestyle with the side effects now and my oncologist says that I will probably find some improvement continues over the next couple of months.
Good luck with it. Give it time. Deanne xxx

Hi Deanne
I hope that you are doing well.
I have been on femara since October last year. The first month or two I felt like I had been hit by a bus. It was terrible. I could not walk out the front door and down the street with my dog. I have begun Denosumab for strengthening my bones. This has worked wonders for me on the pain.
I also go swimming every day - although I had to stop for four weeks as I had two procedures for a melanoma on my back. All good now.
Just take it easy - try not to do too much at first. Maybe some swimming and yoga - you will work it out. It does make you tired also but I am very lucky that I can nap whenever I feel like it. I am on extended sick leave at the moment.
The other side effect for me is the thinning of my hair. Its fine though just less haircuts for me.
Take care and best of wishes to you
Sandra

Hi Tansy,
I don't think am familiar with the booklet, Beyond breast cancer. If you wanted to have a look at BCNA’s booklet, Hormone therapy and breast cancer, to see if it would be helpful, you can click here to download a copy.
You can also find a list of all of our free fact sheets and booklets on our website here, and download or order any of the resources at anytime.
Best wishes,

Hi there Deanne
thanks so much for taking the time to reply,
can you still do all the active things you used to ?
from the stuff I read ( yeah, never Google anything ! ) a lot of ladies are totally debilitated. But they were US sites, so I was hoping they may not be that relevant.
Did you need to change your lifestyle, diet & do you enjoy a vino or two ?
??????????
Warm regards, tansy !
